A feed is a regularly updated stream of data or information. In general, a feed is a query-based system designed to bring the user relevant, immediately useful content based on their needs.

RSS feeds, news feeds, search feeds, Twitter feeds, and Facebook feeds are popular examples. A feed operates by aggregating data from several sources, and “feeding” them to the user through one website, app, or platform. Depending on the set-up, feeds may be updated in real time, at regular intervals, or only once. Search feeds, such as those that are integrated into apps or websites, are updated only when the user enters a query.
