Lead boxes, in offline marketing, are nothing more than cardboard boxes with a hole in the top. A banner above the box advertises a contest or drawing.

Then, visitors to the store, fitness center, etc. fill out the contest form and drop their personal information into the box. The “lead box” method has been an enormously popular lead generation method in the health and fitness industry, and online iterations of the same idea are just as successful. A pop-up box, for instance, that offers an incentive in return for a user’s email address, is one of the best ways to generate an email list. These operate in much the same way as offline lead boxes.
